William “Ernie”Joseph Ernharth
Age 95 of Sheraden passed away peacefully on Wednesday, December 21, 2022. Ernie was the beloved husband of 69 years of Rita (Goddard) Ernharth, loving father of Linda Wozniak (Greg), Diane Pritchard, daughter‑in‑law, Lisa Ernharth, and preceded in death by son Robert William, and infant daughter, Barbara. Born in McKees Rocks to Cecelia and Louis Joseph Ernharth, Ernie shared his young life with siblings Louis, Frank, and Carl Ernharth, and Cecelia Houlihan, Anthony Nickles and John Tauschman.
Sadly missed by grandchildren, Michael William Wozniak (Leah), Christine Ernharth Benton (Emmanual), Lauren Wozniak James (Jarrod), Elizabeth Wozniak, and Stephen William Ernharth (Alana). He enjoyed spending time with his four great-grandchildren, Avery, Carter, Nolan, and Cameron. Also survived by cherished family and friends. Ernie was a proud WWII Army veteran serving both domestically and abroad. He began his life-long career as a meat cutter for A&P, after which he joined the Pittsburgh Athletic Association as a well‑beloved bowling manager. A gifted tradesman, Ernie was able to build and repair nearly anything. He enjoyed varied hobbies including ceramics, small engine repair, stained glass design, fishing, playing cards and bingo at the Sheraden Healthy Active Living Center, attending polka dances and competing in the Senior Games. Special thanks to son‑in‑law Greg for helping to console and comfort Ernie during his time in care.
Family and friends are welcomed on WEDNESDAY, December 28th from 1-3 pm and 6-8 pm at the William F. Conroy Funeral Home, 2944 Chartiers Avenue, Sheraden. Funeral Mass on Thursday, 11 am at Ascension Church, St. Philip Catholic Parish, 114 Berry St. Pgh 15205. Burial with military honors in National Cemetery of the Alleghenies, Cecil Twp.
