VIRGINIA ALSTON FIELD

Virgina Alston Field formerly of Bermuda Run, North Carolina passed away peacefully on Friday March 27, 2026. Beloved wife of the late Ronald J. Field; sister of the late Rita Alston (Anthony) Cerrone and William Howard (Shirley) Alston; sister-in-Law of Patti (Robert) DiTullio and Richard Pollara; also sixteen nieces and nephews. Virginia was preceded in death by her parents Marion M. and John R. Alston.

Virgina worked as an Administrative Assistant for U.S. Steel and Turner Construction Company. She was involved with the construction of the U.S. Steel Building in Down Town Pittsburgh. Her footprints are in the one of the first batches of concrete to be poured for the main foundation of the U.S. Steel building.

Virginia and her husband moved to New York City, Lincoln Plaza in the early 1970’s, she worked for Turner Construction while in NYC. Virginia and her husband returned to Pittsburgh in the mid 1970’s and then moved to Winston-Salem, Bermuda Run Golf Course. Virgina was involved with the Crosby Pro-Am Golf tournament that was played there every year. She moved back to Pittsburgh in the late 1990’s. Virginia will always be remembered as kind, generous and supportive.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday, April 10th at 10 am in Ascension Church of St. Philip Parish, 114 Berry St., Pgh 15205. Everyone please meet at the church.
