Margaret Mitchell Obituary

Margaret O. Mitchell (Clowes)

Our beloved mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and great-great grandmother, Margaret O. Mitchell passed away on Tuesday, July 9, 2024 after a short illness. She was surrounded by her children. She was 92 years old. Beloved wife of the late Joseph J. Mitchell, and daughter of the late Myrr and Margaret Clowes. Devoted mother of Joseph (Joan) Mitchell, Margaret "Peg" (Ed) Cannon, Elaine (Terry) Malley, Christine Mitchel and the late Michael and William Mitchell. Sister of the late Kathy Albert and Geraldine Kirby. Grandmother to 15, great-grandmother to 26, and great-great grandmother to one.
Margaret devoted her life to her family. She was kind, generous, supportive, and compassionate to everyone. She was always so considerate and gentle to those who were sick and would do everything in her power to make them feel safe and comfortable. A friend to all. She never had a bad word to say about anyone. She always looked for the good.
The last 10 years of her life were spent at Little Sisters of the Poor where she was cherished by everyone. Margaret's faith was all encompassing. From the time she moved into Little Sisters she attended mass every day. Her gift to everyone was the gift of prayer. She loved Jesus. She never feared dying because she anticipated the moment he would welcome her through the gates of heaven.
Margaret had a lovely connection with the nuns at Little Sisters and in particular a very close friendship with a beautiful young nun from India. This sister came to visit her every day while she was in the nursing unit. She called our mom her "prayer warrior". Everyone that had a special intention went to our mom and asked her to pray for that intention. She was genuine in her faith and love of God.
We know that she is happy and healthy and in the company of all of her loved ones who went before her.
She is home!
She leaves the legacy of kindness and strength. The last four years or so when the world experienced so much turmoil, she would only focus on there being Peace on Earth.

Let us all remember her by loving one another.
