Ross
Joyce A.
Age 72, of Greentree was in her home on Monday, May 25, 2020 when she was called to rest with God. She was born August 5, 1947 in Pittsburgh, PA to the late Samuel C. and Helen R. Ross.
She was preceded in death by her youngest brother, Samuel Ross. Surviving Joyce is her sister and best friend, Sandra Selva, brother Thomas Ross, daughters Kim and Amber Atkins, grandsons Martez Cromwell and Shane Atkins, and granddaughter Mya Atkins. She also leaves behind seven loving nephews, two great-nephews, a great-niece and a great-granddaughter. Her beloved cousins who were so dear to her as well as a multitude of friends are also left to mourn.
Joyce was an avid reader who enjoyed murder/mystery books, looked forward to playing bingo each week, was passionate about playing the lottery, and a good Italian meal. She absolutely loved music, especially blues. Joyce could be found listening to either her radio, records or live music, dancing the night away at home or in a club, for many of her years. Her heart and joy were with her family, and she selflessly provided her love, support, guidance, and understanding to us all. She was our rock. This heart also extended beyond family and she was well known to offer her time, compassion, and even a room in her home to those that needed it. Her smile was infectious, and her laugh would brighten anyone’s day; those that knew her will never forget its sound. She always had a kind word and helped you to see the bright side of every situation, even when she struggled for herself. She was truly an amazing mother, sister, and friend who taught us all valuable lessons about life and love. If you knew her, your life was better for it. Though she is no longer here in body, the bits and pieces of herself she gave to whomever needed it will never fade.
In lieu of a viewing, Joyce’s request was to have family and friends gather for a Memorial Mass at Ascension Worship Site of St. Philip Church (114 Berry St, Ingram PA 15205) to celebrate her life and legacy on Saturday, June 27, 2020 at 10:00 A.M. In the event the number of people able to gather in a group is still restricted, the family will issue a communication closer to the 27th.
