JOHN RODGERS
On Friday, October 8, 2021 surrounded by his family died after a valiant fight. Beloved husband of the late Catherine M. (Smith) Rodgers. Loving father of John J. (Deborah) Rodgers, Mary (Richard) Schubert, Maureen Rodgers, and Eileen (Matthew) Meade. Proud Pap of Brendan, Neal (Bree), and Laura Schubert, and Riley and Everett Meade. Doting Great Pap of Isabella, Aubrey, Gigi, Adrianne, and Corinne Schubert. He leaves behind his best friend and companion, Murphy. John was born in Brooklyn, New York on October 22, 1927, and was raised in Donegal, Ireland. He was preceded in death by his parents, James and Mary Rodgers, and his siblings: Antoin and Catherine Rodgers. He is survived by his sister-in-law, Brid Rodgers, and nieces and nephews. He was a proud veteran of World War II, serving in France and Germany with the 3rd Infantry Division. When he met Catherine, John made Pittsburgh his home. Although thoughts of Donegal were always close to his heart. He enjoyed many trips back home to visit family and friends. John was an avid sports fan. He closely followed: Central Catholic baseball and football, Notre Dame football, the Pittsburgh Pirates and especially the Pittsburgh Steelers. A season ticket holder, he attended many home and away games.

Family and friends are welcomed on MONDAY from 1-3 and 6-8 PM at the William F. Conroy Funeral Home, 2944 Chartiers Avenue, Sheraden.
Funeral mass in St. Philip Church on Tuesday at 10 am, followed by entombment with military honors in Queen of Heaven Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Chuck Noll Foundation for Brain Injury Research.
