Dorothy Thornton

Dorothy Thornton, age 73, of Ingram, formerly of Sheraden, smiled and said, “I know where I am going” and passed away peacefully on Friday, August 30, 2024. She was the cherished daughter of the late James K. and Dorothy (Webb) Thornton. Dorothy was the beloved sister of Thomas (Tess), John (Denise), and the late James Thornton. She was also a devoted sister-in-law to Virginia Thornton and a loving aunt to Kenny and Barbara Thornton, Corie Turner (Carson), Michael Thornton (Megan), and Kelly Kazsimer (Matt). Dorothy’s best friend, Bonnie Swank, held a special place in her heart.

The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the staff at AGH, especially Joanna, for their exceptional kindness and care during Dorothy's final days.

A funeral service will be held at 10 am at Our Lady of the Rosary Chapel, Calvary Cemetery, 718 Hazelwood Ave., Pittsburgh, 15217. Everyone is kindly asked to meet at the chapel.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to the Humane Animal Rescue of Pennsylvania, 1101 Western Ave., Pittsburgh, 15233 (humaneanimalrescue.org).
