SIMMONS
David R.
On Monday, May 31, 2021, David Roy Simmons of Fredericksburg VA, formerly of Hempfield Township, Westmoreland County, PA, loving husband, and father of two daughters, passed away at age 62, after a courageous battle with cancer.
David was born on August 20, 1958, in Pittsburgh, PA. A graduate of Taylor Allderdice High School in Squirrel Hill, he began a career with Steamfitters Local Union #449 that spanned 44 years. His accomplishments were many, but some of which he was proud included running a successful business for nearly 20 years, obtaining his U.S. Coast Guard Captain’s license, and on one occasion at the gym, a former pro-football player complimented him on his barbell back squat.
Dave’s unparalleled work ethic, humility, ingenuity, and perseverance were evident throughout his life. Boating, fishing, and hunting were a few of his pastimes. But these didn’t compare to using his knowledge and expertise to help others whenever he could.
He is survived by his loving wife of 42 years, Cheryl (Klasterka) Simmons, daughters, Michelle Robinson and Maryann Simmons, sons-in-law, Brent Robinson and Ehren Wade respectively, and his two grandchildren who he will deeply miss, Grant and Kate Robinson.
Dave is also survived by his mother, Carol Werling Simmons, sister and brother-in-law, Donna and Greg Graham, as well as many loving and dear nephews, nieces, and friends.
Family and friends are welcomed on FRIDAY 5-8 PM at the William F. Conroy Funeral Home, Inc. 2944 Chartiers Ave, Sheraden. Funeral Service on Saturday at 10 AM. You may express your condolences to the family through our online tribute wall at ww.wfconroyfuneralhome.com.
